After many years of consideration I have decided to release a signed print of Wargasm Why Play Around? cover art. 17" x 24" on archival inks.
I did the album in the mid 1980's after finishing Fates Warning Awaken the Guardian. Wargasm was a band out of Boston that I thought were amazing, part of a new movement in metal. They shared the same home as the Cromags at ROCK HOTEL/PROFILE RECORDS.
The brief was very violent that I was given but I gave it my own spin. I handed in the painting with a suggestion for the design, and the label handled it from there. In the years to come, it became a much sought after album and the art was in demand.
By the time I was asked to do another cover by the label (not the same act), my fees had risen dramatically and I passed, as I had just finished Extreme Pornograffitti and was working on Dream Theater and Voivod with the band's drummer and artist Away. Still, Wargasm was a great band. Recently, the band's drummer contacted me and purchased the first print, which is what led to this very cool piece.
